Public pensions systems still "in trouble"

Article from the Wall Street Journal: "Why the longest US bull market has failed to fix the nation's public pensions": http://www.msn.com/en-us/money/marke...7Ia?ocid=ientp Some highlights from the article: There is a simple reason why pensions are in such rough shape: The amount owed to retirees is accelerating faster than assets on hand to pay those future obligations. Liabilities of major U.S. public pensions are up 64% since 2007 while assets are up 30%, according to the most recent dat...

Annoying Pop-up Video

I am experiencing a very annoying pop-up video on the lower right corner of my screen. I haven't watched it through to see who is responsible, I should so I can be sure to boycott the product. I don't know if it appears on all threads or not.

Study shows that dogs can sniff-out cancer in humans with incredible accuracy

A new study shows that dogs can sniff-out cancer in humans with almost 100% accuracy: http://www.msn.com/en-us/health/heal...XT0?ocid=ientp Some highlights from the article: Whereas humans only possess six million smell receptors in their noses, dogs have 300 million, which means they’re about 10,000 times better at detecting odors than humans. [In checking blood samples from lung cancer patients] dogs managed to correctly identify the lung cancer samples 96.7 percent of the time and the n...

GPS tracking devices

Anybody have a GPS tracking device on their generator or garden tractor? Things are changing around our neighborhood. So far-this year- they have only stolen stuff out of unlocked cars. But last year I saw where somebody was warning people to lock their garages and sheds because the little dopers were stealing from them too. Yesterday a guy who lives a block down the street posted on Facebook that somebody stole a tree that was balled up and laying in his side yard. I would like to know more d...

McDonald's video shows attitudes unchanged towards self defense with firearms.

These two trouble makers have to be escorted out of a Chicago McDonald's by a security guard. 1. A McDonald's needs a security guard. Think about that for a second... Tells you where we are as a society. 2. As they are leaving, they attack the guard. Keep in mind they are half his age. So it's two against one, they're younger, stronger, faster, and catch him by surprise. 3. Onlookers quietly watch, offering zero assistance, after he just saved the restaurant from whatever mayhem these two dirt...

2019 wildfire season begins

https://www.azcentral.com/story/news...nn/3405770002/ Not a good omen. Right now we who live on the western side of this continent are living with the new reality that until everything that can burn has, we are very probably going to have to live with the smoke again this summer. Last year was awful! Very likely it will be from Alaska to southern California again. I need to add a good gas mask to my wilderness bug out kit.

Liberty Dies to Applause It only took them 26 days to decide that 268,000 people, gun owners, should be punished for the acts of an Australian Left Wing Terrorist. Could You Garden Successfully in Venezuela's Conditions?

That really cuts to the heart of EP gardening in my opinion. They are not in a true EMP type grid down, but given their circumstances they are essentially living much that way. Must be horrible. It could last for years. That's why I survival garden for the most part like I'm in a grid down existence. https://growingfromscratch.com/2019/...la-nightmares/ "Can you imagine living in Venezuela right now? More importantly….. have you ever imagined living like that? Have you ever seriously stoppe...

large loop on lever actions

Never had a lever until last year, bought a plain jane henry .22..happy with it. Looking at getting another one,any brand,in 30-30 or 38/357,just because. I like the looks of the large loop,I assume it was for functioning in winter wearing large gloves, and has a actual use besides looks.I'm in swfl,so that is not an issue.I will do my best to avoid the Chuck Conner flip. Just curious if there is any downside to a large loop? I just like the looks of it.

Freeze Dried Mozzarella

Looking for any input from people who have used one or more of the commercial freeze dried mozzarellas. Is there one you recommend? Any you suggest I stay away from? This is gonna be one of my pricier luxury items for the pantry, and even a small package to test out is moderately expensive, so any info I can get in advance will be greatly appreciated. This is the last ingredient I need to be sure I have the ability to make pizza from the pantry for at least 2 years. For me and mine, pizza is a...

Remington Model 700 in 6.5 Creedmoor

I'm not privy to a lot of details yet and I also can't divulge much more info than is presented here. So here's what I know and what I wish to get feed back from anyone here who is more knowledgeable than I... which would be pretty much Everyone! I've been given the opportunity to field test (and write a review) a new Remington 700 in the 6.5 Creedmoor caliber. The 'person(s)' wanted some field tests in Wyoming (assuming it would be a prairie dog shoot) at long distances. Don't have any "prairi...

S&W Model 64 police trade in prices are getting a little nutty.

I just got this in an email from Centerfire Systems. I know they have been creeping up, but $400 for a trade in 64 seems a bit steep. These look to maybe be from overseas too, as the one in the pic looks to have an import stamp on it. The other odd thing is, it says they are from the 70's, and they do look like the Smiths of that era, yet they seem to have the new "lock" and cylinder release on them. Maybe S&W retrofitted them at a later date. Not sure why though. Im not thinking its all ...

Midwest Can Co.

Recently I went to my local Menards to purchase some 6 gal water jugs. I noticed that only one on the shelf actually had the little red dust disc on it. All of the others were missing theirs. So, I bought the one good one and went home to contact the company as this is not the first time I have had this problem. They replied the next business day and surmised that people must be stealing them. They told me that if I provided my name and address, they would send me new replacement discs. So I tol...

Leaked: Obama team kept list of Muslims for top jobs, excluded non-Muslims

The newest release of John Podesta’s hacked emails released by Wikileaks indicates Obama’s transition team kept lists of Muslim and Asian candidates for jobs in the administration. According to an email chain from 2008, John Podesta received lists of exclusively Muslims and Asians to be considered for jobs in the Obama administration. The email chain revealed that in this process, Middle Eastern Christians were purposefully excluded. ************************************************** ****...

Mexico Declares War On The United States

Mexico and numerous other nations from around the world declared war on the United States years ago. It is only recently that anyone has noticed. It has been observed as hundreds of thousands of their "troops" assault our Southern Border and breach our security. But no one is calling this for what it is ... WAR. Think about it ... if China sent hundreds of thousands of their citizens to assault our Southern Border - what would it be called ? If Russia sent hundreds of thousands of their ci...
