Flyers Getting Their Money’s Worth in Hayes

The date was June 3, 2019. It was a little less than a month before the free agency period began, so general manager Chuck Fletcher and the Philadelphia Flyers decided to make a splash in acquiring the rights to center Kevin Hayes in a summertime trade with the Winnipeg Jets, with the intention of signing him to a long-term contract. The concern was how Hayes would fit in with a team that had no identity and hasn’t gotten past the first round in seven years. This was now an afterthought. ...

Claude Giroux had a pair of goals, and Jake Voracek collected four assists, tying his career best, as the Flyers ended the Rangers’ f...

Paul George angered by 'home-court cooking' in Clippers' loss to 76ers

Paul George claimed the Los Angeles Clippers fell victim to some "home-court cooking" after Tuesday's defeat to the Philadelphia 76ers. A Ben Simmons triple-double inspired the 76ers to a 110-103 victory at Wells Fargo Center, where George endured a rough evening. George believes both teams have the quality to make it to the Finals, with the 76ers fifth in the Eastern Conference and the Clippers third in the Western.

This young lady's reaction to Joel Embiid-Marcus Morris fight was all of us

As if Joel Embiid hadn't delighted the Wells Fargo Center faithful enough Tuesday night, he decided to tussle with a familiar foe. With 2:48 left in the Sixers' big 110-103 win over the Clippers, Embiid got into it with Philly native Marcus Morris. The pair obviously have a history - though both players seem to have histories with plenty of guys.

What he learned from JJ Redick, a mentor for Shamet during his rookie year, has apparently been a popular one. "I've answered that question a million times," Shamet said Tuesday before the Clippers' walkthrough at Wells Fargo Center, "but yeah, we just talked yesterday. He's just a friend.

If only the Sixers could find a way to not play any road games. Sixers know what keeps happening, but it's still an unacceptable trend

There is almost nothing positive to be extracted from the Sixers' final two games before the trade deadline on Thursday afternoon, losses to the Celtics and Heat that by the fourth quarter had deteriorated into exhibitions everyone besides the home team and its fans just wanted to end. Brett Brown said before the season that he wanted the No. 1 seed, yet the Sixers sit at sixth in the Eastern Conference and are 9-18 away from Wells Fargo Center. When they're on the road, though, the Si...

Hayes, Farabee Lead Flyers to 6-3 Win Over Avalanche

PHILADELPHIA — Kevin Hayes and Joel Farabee scored two goals each and seldom-used reserve goaltender Alex Lyon made 28 saves to earn his first win in nearly two years as the Philadelphia Flyers beat the Colorado Avalanche 6-3 on Saturday night. Sean Couturier assisted on three of the Flyers goals, including when he capitalized on a sloppy Colorado turnover eight minutes into the third period, stole a pass, and fed Farabee for a goal that would eventually count as the winner, putting the Flyer...

Edmonton And Philadelphia And Their Problems With Scheduling

from David Staples of the Edmonton Journal, Here’s what Edmonton is up against: After a great run where the Oilers just won six of their last eight games, the team just faced ten days off between games. That long rest came because the NHL put the Oilers’ annual and mandated bye week next to the NHL’s annual All Star Game break. It’s hard to imagine that a team off ten days won’t have a considerable amount of rust in its game. Following up on this stupidly long break, the Oil...

Gritty Accused Of Throwing A Punch

from Christian Hetrick of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Chris Greenwell brought his boy Brandon to the Wells Fargo Center one night in November to meet the most famous person on the Philadelphia Flyers payroll: Gritty. The Flyers had invited Greenwell and his 13-year-old son to get a photo and some face time with the fuzzy, googly-eyed mascot, all part of an exclusive event for season ticket holders. Ducks’ Troy Terry nearing return to lineup, 7 weeks earlier than expected

ANAHEIM — Troy Terry tried to stand, but he couldn’t, so he slumped back to the Wells Fargo Center ice. Terry, a Ducks right wing, had just taken a knee-to-knee hit from Nicolas Aube-Kubel of the Philadelphia Flyers in the second period of a Dec. 17 game. Terry needed assistance to reach the bench and then dressing room. It looked like a bad injury. The initial diagnosis and the prognosis were bad, too. Terry suffered a small leg fracture just below his knee and it was expected that he would be ...

Flyers Need Hart to Be Better on the Road

The story of Carter Hart, especially during the 2019-20 NHL season, is quickly becoming a dichotomy of two different goaltenders. A Vezina-calibre starter and an American Hockey League goalie seem to be interchanging between the Philadelphia Flyers’ home and away games. It started as a young goaltender’s adjustment to the speed of the NHL but the numbers are backing it up at an alarming rate. When Hart plays at the Wells Fargo Center he is .
