Jeremy Nowak, 66, a prominent civic investor, advocate, and commentator who founded the Philadelphia-based Reinvestment Fund, later led the William Penn Foundation, and chaired boards of organizations including the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, Mastery Charter Schools, and Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, died Saturday at Lankenau Medical Center of complications from a heart attack.

Started in 2014, the initiative coordinates 65 nonprofits to help protect the watershed that ultimately feeds into the Delaware River and provides drinking water for more than 15 million people in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. The groups pool resources, provide scientific expertise, monitor water quality at 500 sites, restore wetlands.

City bike share program to expand with $1.5 million grant

The city's popular bike share program, Indego, will get 24 new stations through a $1.5 million grant from the William Penn Foundation, city officials announced Monday. The new stations will be installed in 2016 at locations picked with an eye towards increasing access to the city's parks and riverfronts, officials said.
